Feeling a little leafy

Last month was a long and hard month for me and I want to apologize for the lack of post lately it has been so hectic around here. But it has calmed down.
I am so glad that September is here that means that Autumn isn't far away. This is my favorite time of year, I love the weather change and the colors. Well the colors just look great on me plus I love love love sweaters. I live in Tennessee and the leaves are already starting to change and drop off. I am over joyed by this as I can't wait to do a photo shoot with my girls in the leaves. This season is really something to see. I lived in Texas till last summer and we had hardly any color on our fallen leaves, so when I say that there's a sight to be seen there really is. Fall isn't here just yet but you can tell it's on it's way.

So I have been a busy little bee getting ready to open my new store Cherry Marie. It is still a work in progress but it is coming along nicely. I hope to get it up and running in the next week or so. I have been crafting for weeks, that doesn't mean that I have a whole lot done. But it is getting there. I have also been working on my Christmas cards and they are coming out breath taking. I will have some of them posted in my shop by the end of this week. I think this years cards just might be the best yet. I am so excited about all that is going on. In a past post I said that I felt like a little cloud was following me raining on me everywhere I went. Well the rainbow has made it's grand appearance and I feel much better and on top of the world.

Rain drops keep falling on my head

This umbrella necklace is really nice. I really like the pearl. I found this at they have many designs to choose from all very creative and cute.

Today the weather is just gloomy, it seems like the rain clouds are not only outside today. There is one following me around my house pouring down on me. You know they say when it rains it pours well it is storming around here. I won't bore you with the details but life is just hard for us right now. It seems like we are always a few steps behind where we need to be. So today I tried to find items that expressed the weather and the mood I am in. With the rain and gloomy greys. I know life will get better and that to have a pretty rainbow you first have to have the storm.

Interveiw with Gen

You have two etsy shops, and a scrapbooking supply web-site. How do you find the time for everything as well as "real life" stuff?
I am blessed to have a husband and three-year-old who are also like to sit and craft. We spend time together around the table at night and do all kinds of art. It's really a lot of fun! I also do a LOT while my little guy naps.

On you web-site you have in your bio that you work from your kitchen table, do you still work from you kitchen table as your business has grown or do you work in another space now?
Still sittin' around the kitchen! I love it there (not that I have room anywhere else!), because I'm still a part of the family and around everything else going on. Good thing I don't cook though ~ all of my cupboards house scrapbook supplies!

Do you have any other hobbies other than crafting?
I love cross-stitching and embroidering. I also LOVE to read and am part of a local book club. I'll read just about anything, especially if someone recommends it to me.

What inspires your designs and What do you enjoy creating the most?
I find inspiration EVERYWHERE! I'm always taking apart magazines and tags or wrapping paper to use later on. I even used the twine from a chocolate box on a Guitar Hero layout. I look at billboards and ads throughout town for design ideas, too..
I've been having lots of fun lately with my cross-stitch designs. There are SO many possibilities there! My first love, however, is paper crafting and I can't let a day go by without gluing a piece of paper to something else. I also get the most joy from a card sale. It seems the most personal somehow, and I get giddy every time someone likes one of my designs.

What do you like most about owning your own business and working from home?
I really like being able to stay home with my toddler. It's my biggest blessing. I have such a passion for paper, too, that I can't imagine doing anything else anymore! I just love selling handmade cards and supplies. I still get such a kick out of going through new inventory when it's delivered to my door. It's like Christmas for me!

What are your goals, or plans for the future?
I'd love to see my business take off and be able to hire on help. My husband and I are also planning to open a coffee shop/used book store/arts and crafts consignment store here in Las Vegas in the next year or so. I think that will be AWESOME! I'll be able to showcase lots of art and handmade goodies, which is really where my heart is at. Really though, I just want to continue doing what I love. I've met so many wonderful friends through this business and I'm excited about the future!

Today we are doing an interview with my good friend
Genevieve Speegle of, and She makes some of the most wonderful handmade cards on the web and her cross stitch patterns are so unique. She has been a real inspiration to me and my business. The first card I ever sold was on her web-site . I've learned so much from that first sale and most of it from Gen. She gave me so many tips from how to determine shipping to what envelopes to use. We have never met face to face, but we have built a friendship over the web. She successfully runs a home business of selling scrapbooking supplies, handmade cards, cross stitching patterns, and altered items. Everything she makes is just breath taking she is truly talented at what she does. I have always wondered how she finds the time to do all this and have a family and a life. I hope you all enjoy this interview as much as I have enjoyed working with Gen.

Oh my goodness these are sooo cute. Little lady bugs on the feet of a little one. These are perfect for summer or fall. I found these little cuties in lilcubby's etsy shop

My oldest daughter who we call Peanut just loves ladybugs. I can't tell you why, she just has always liked them. She used to carry a little lady bug baby doll everywhere she went. It was crazy she wouldn't even sleep with out this doll that she called baby bug. But when here little sister arrived she gave it to her and hasn't asked about it since. How ever on occasion she will find it and say "Hey it's baby bug" and then she will hand it over to her sister. It really is sweet.
So as I plan my second daughters first birthday I decide to let Peanut help me with it. So I asked her what kind of party did she think Mari would like to have and with so much excitement she yells a Lady bug party. So with lady bugs on my mind I decided that while I was cruising etsy I would do today's post on Lady bugs as well. See I can multi-task. I found so many cute things. It was so hard not to post everything on the blog today, but I did good. Back to party planning for me.
